Behind the wheel of his Millikan Smiles No. D48 Modified entry, Derek Groomer visited Bloomington Speedway (Bloomington, Ind.) on Friday afternoon for the Rodney Harris Memorial. Drawing a stout field of 30 UMP Modifieds, Groomer jumped up three spots in his heat race to pick up the win. Starting on the front row of the feature, Groomer fended off a charging Jacoby Hines to secure third win of the season over Hines, Jordan Wever, Ryan Thomas, and Jeff Deckard.
On Saturday night at Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Ind.) for the Hall of Fame Classic, Derek edged his way into the main event with a third place finish in his heat. Coming one spot shy of a Top-5 finish, Groomer notched a sixth place outing.
Sunday saw him stop at Paragon Speedway (Paragon, Ind.) for the regular night of racing. After starting the night off with a heat race victory, Groomer marched to his fourth win of the season in the feature over Jake Leitzman, Rob Brickert, Tyler Loughmiller, and Jason Clark.
