Friday night found Derek Groomer in action at Bloomington Speedway (Bloomington, Ind.) for the Bob Kinser Memorial. In a field of 16 cars, Groomer jumped up three spots in his heat race to pick up the win. Earning the fourth-starting position for the A-Main, Derek outran fellow second-row starter Wes Leigh to secure his eighth win of the season. Leigh, James Walters, Tyler Loughmiller, and Caleb DeMoss trailed him to the checkers.
On Saturday afternoon in a stout field of 45 Modifieds at Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Ind.) for the Jackson 100, Derek secured his spot into the main event with a runner-up finish in his heat behind Jordan Wever. With $2,000 on the line, Groomer posted a sixth place outing.
