Friday night found Derek Groomer in action at Bloomington Speedway (Bloomington, Ind.) powering his Jerry Burton Masonry No. D48 Modified entry. Passing four cars in his heat race to pick up the 8-lap victory, Derek locked into the fourth-starting position for the opening night feature. Gaining two spots in the 20-lap affair, Groomer notched a fourth place finish behind Jacoby Hines, Jeff Deckard, and Tyler Loughmiller with Jordan Wever coming in fifth.
The following night at Lincoln Park Speedway (Putnamville, Ind.), Groomer secured his spot into the main event with an 8-lap heat race victory. Outrunning front-row starter Jeff Deckard, Derek muscled to his fifth win of the season over Deckard, Rob Brickert, Matt Mitchell, and Tyler Loughmiller.

August 15, 2020 – Derek Groomer made the trek to Florence Speedway (Union, Ky.) on Wednesday afternoon to kick off the North/South weekend with the 34th annual Ralph Latham Memorial. In a field of 38 Modifieds, Groomer locked his spot into the opening night feature with a fourth place finish in his heat. Wheeling his way into the Top-5, Derek marched forward to place fifth behind Adam Stricker, Rick Corbin, Bryan Barber, and Tim Rivers.

For the two-day North/South 100 on Friday afternoon, Groomer posted a third place finish in his heat race, which positioned him seventh on the starting grid for the Saturday night’s $2,000-to-win finale. Improving four spots in the 20-lapper, Derek notched a third place finish behind Adam Stricker and Cole Falloway with Rick Corbin and Blake Brown completing the Top-5 finishers.
