Recording a runner-up finish in his heat behind Jordan Wever, Groomer locked his spot into the A-Main. Falling two spots shy of a Top-10 finish, Derek logged a 12th place outing.

 October 5, 2019 - Derek Groomer returned to Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Indiana) on Saturday night competing in the Open Wheel Modified ranks. After starting the night off with a heat race victory, Groomer topped Jamie Lomax, Jordan Wever, Tim Rivers, and Brayden Watson in the feature to record his ninth win of the season. He earned a $600 payday for his efforts.

September 21, 2019 - On Friday night Derek Groomer traveled to Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Indiana) competing in a field of 27 Open Wheel Modifieds for the Bowman 50. Recording a runner-up finish in his heat behind Michael Wesselman, Groomer locked his spot into the opening night feature. Falling short of a Top-10 finish, Derek logged a 17th place outing.
Returning on Saturday night for the Jackson 100, Derek followed up a 2nd place finish in his heat with a 12th place finish in the main event.

Recording a 3rd place finish in his heat, Groomer earned the 6th-starting position for the A-Main. Falling short of a Top-10 finish, Derek slipped back to a 13th place outing.
His plans to go Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Indiana) were ruined after experiencing trailer issues on the way to the track.
