Derek Groomer bags ninth win of 2023 in Hall of Fame Classic at Brownstown
On Saturday afternoon, Derek Groomer visited Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Ind.) to pull double duty in the Modified and Super Stock ranks for the Hall of Fame Classic.
With a runner-up finish in his Modified heat race placing him on the second row for the feature, Groomer outran Ryan Thomas in the 20-lapper to record his ninth win of the season. He took the checkers 1.127 seconds ahead of Thomas with Ben Harmon, Jacoby Hines, and Logan Mounce rounding out the top-five.
Nearly pulling off a two-win night, Derek secured his spot into the Super Stock feature with a heat race win but suffered a tire issue on the final lap after leading from the drop of the green flag. He limped to second, chasing Branden Carr to the checkers with Matt Boknecht coming in third.
